Bichon-Frise PlayDays

Our Bichon PlayDays for 2011 have ended.

Sunday, September 18th at Rover's Ranch

About 10 families and 16 or so white, energetic fluffs braved the mist and drizzle to blitz about Rover's Ranch this afternoon.   I'm not sure if I've ever seen as many blitz's in one day with so many dog's joining in. The blitzes and rugged play produced many a black-footed Bichon.

Many topics of interest were discussed but perhaps the ones the dog's enjoyed best was an introduction to dog puzzles that involved getting treats everytime they figured a game out by rotating a tray, flipping off a cover, rolling a drop ball, or slipping a pucket from over a treat compartment..

September and past group photos can be found at the bottom of this page.

Iowa BichonPlayDays are off-leash blitzing (running around and having fun) at Rover's Ranch Dog Park.

No reservations are required, just show up. Rover's Ranch will collect $5 per family f2011 rate) from all families who aren't members of the park. Rover's Ranch is located 1 mile south of Highway 163 (NE University Ave) on NE 108th Street. That's about 3 miles east of SE Polk High School.

We always have people at PlayDays to discuss dealing with aging dogs, food issues, eye cleaning and staining, tools for grooming your Bichon, vaccinations vs titers, and many other common issues for the breed. If your Bichon does tricks, we'd like to see those and maybe even have a fashion show if your fluffer has a favorite outfit to wear. This is a great way to socialize your dogs with others of the same breed. It's a fun time for all.

BICHON PLAY DAY RULES

We have a number of rules to protect all attendees, both fluffs as well as their owners.

This is a Bichon event. All attending human members of a household must be accompanied by at least one Bichon or Bichon-mix.

Bichons only please for the Bichon PlayDay. Rover's Ranch has other fenced areas for other breeds if another adult wants to bring your non-bichon breeds for the day.

If you have a Bichon with aggression issues, please leave them at home.

Puppies are allowed to attend if they’ve had their Parvo and Distemper shots.

Females in heat are not allowed in the park.

Dogs must have on a harness or collar with ID at all times.

No more than two Bichons per attending adult.

All pets must be current on their vaccinations.

No food is to be brought for your dog with the exception of small (no bigger than a nickel) training treats carried by the owner. NEVER feed anything to another Bichon unless you have the owners permission.

Smoking is restricted to a designated smoking area. Please discard tobacco products into containers provided since discarded tobacco products are harmful to animals.

No alcohol allowed on the event premises.

Humans must wear shoes at all times on premises. They are optional for Bichons.

WHAT TO BRING

Lawn chairs for each individual attending. Our event will be held outdoors and you'll want to have your own seating.

Supply of "poop" bags.

$5 park entry fee per family household and a happy disposition. Plan to have a fun time and learn from the experiences of other Bichon owners.

There will be several fresh drinking water containers scattered about for the fluffer butts all day or you may bring your own for personal use.

Call Amy at (515) 270-9064 (Des Moines) to get on our phone list or e-mail her here to get on our e-mail list of announcements and upcoming Bichon activities in central Iowa.
